Wedge Bootie

The first pair of shoes I will showcase is my my recent purchase.  Why?  They are at the top of my shoe buckets.  This is a work in progress.

You'll quickly see that I purchase most of my shoes from Aldo.  No, I'm not being paid to say that (but if they're willing..... just sayin').  I have just found that their shoes always fit me well and I'm always the same size.  I can order them online (where you'll find their best deals) and know that when my shoes arrive I won't have to deal with returning ill-fitting items.

I have learned to be patient when buying shoes.  I scope out various fashions that I am interested in trying and peruse the Aldo website.  I find shoes that I like, add them to my wish list, and then wait for them to drop to a price that I am willing to pay.  I don't have a problem spending some money on an item that I really love, but their shoes always go on sale.  It is just a matter of waiting.  I rarely pay more than $50 for any shoe, and usually less than that.

So most recently, I decided that I wanted to try a pair of wedge booties.  I have seen lots of women wearing these style of wedges with leggings, skinny jeans, dresses/skirts, and stockinged legs and I love the way they look.

I ended up buying the Aldo Hammerstrom in taupe, made from both leather and suede.  They have a 1" platform and 4.25" heel, which in my book, makes them very easy to walk in.  Because the boot surrounds your foot, they are also quite stable.

Aldo Hammerstrom, original price: $130, on sale for $48.99
I think you have to be careful with booties because they cut the leg off at the ankle and can make your legs look short and stumpy.  I am a firm believer that there is a correct way to dress for every body type and there is a wrong way to dress for every body type.  These booties have been testing that theory for me.  I tried them on with a pair of skinny jeans and thought they made the proportions of my legs look off.  I like the way they look with leggings, but need to find some more tunic-y tops and longer button downs to wear with them.

The outfit I decided to go out to dinner with Brendan and friends in was this:

Leggings: Simply Vera, Top: received at a clothing swap!
Leather jacket: Forever 21
Overall, I love these booties!  I want to experiment more with jeans and find the look that works.  i wouldn't mind a pair in black as I sometimes find they look best when blending in with whatever bottoms you are wearing, but for now these will work just fine.  How do you wear your booties?
