So remember when I said that our apartment was tiny and cluttered and we were going to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to buy things to organize? Well, after some shopping and major cleaning and transferring to the storage unit (my favorite room of the "house"), we have ended up with more stuff. How, you ask?
1. I think our chia is reproducing. When I last talked about chia, I said that we had two huge containers. Well look at it now! B swears that he didn't buy it, and I know I didn't bring it when I moved from VA. Seriously, this stuff is everywhere. I can only eat so much of this a day.
2. I love smoothies. You would think this would help with the clutter, since I insist on whittling down our chia stash by putting a scoop in my smoothie every morning. But, no. And here's why. Remember this little guy?
That just doesn't do the trick anymore.
Now we've got this big boy taking up real estate on our counter. But it's worth it - I'm pretty sure the smoothies taste better :)
3. Dairy-free June. This was not my idea. I was shocked when B said a few weeks ago that he wanted to try to go dairy-free for the month of June. This coming from the kid that could live on milk and cereal. I don't have much dairy in my diet anyway (cottage cheese and feta don't count... right?), so I figured that I'd give it a go. So towards the end of May, we bought a few types of dairy-free milks to test out. I've always been a fan of almond milk, so we bought some of that, as well as rice and coconut milks. Almond milk was the winner. While grocery shopping yesterday at Whole Foods, I saw almond milk on sale and had been told that if you buy it by the case, you save an additional 10%. SOLD!
Time for a game - how many containers of almond milk can you find in our fridge?
Wait, don't forget the one on the second shelf and the others hiding in the back!
I got excited. What can I say?
4. And then there's this.
Macy's had a ridiculous Memorial Day sale and we got this $179 cast iron pot for $50. Too bad it didn't come with an annex to our kitchen. Still don't know where to put it. But I sure am excited to make something in it! Any ideas??
And as I've been writing this post, I get this email:
By the way, the answer is 10. 10 containers of milk. Soon to be 9, once I make this morning's smoothie :)
